October 19, 2005 - East Brunswick Loses in New Jersey Group IV Championship

East Brunswick made it all the way to the Group IV State finals before falling 4-1 to Westfield in the finals. The Bears easily beat Livingston 41/2 to 1/2 to start the day. The half a point resulted because East Brunswick's Christina Moehle and Livingston's Erica Gellar ran out of time with Moehle winning the lone set 7-6 (9-7). In the finals, however, Westfield was too much for the Bears. Luiza Kiyamova, the hero of the sectional tournament, delivered the only victory for East Brunswick in the finals. It would have been wonderful if East Brunswick had won the state title, but getting this far was really remarkable. Way to go Bears!
